Luxe Kart Street-Legal LSV Rules & Regulations Guide

Everything You Need to Know Before Driving a Luxe Kart

At Luxe Kart, all of our vehicles are fully street-legal Low-Speed Vehicles (LSVs) — not traditional golf carts. That means our vehicles are titled, registered, insured, equipped with DOT-required safety equipment, and designed for use on approved public roads.

Because every state and local market has slightly different rules, we created this easy-to-understand guide to help you stay safe, legal, and stress-free during your vacation.

What Is a Street-Legal LSV?

A Low-Speed Vehicle (LSV) is a federally recognized class of vehicle that:

  • Travels between 20–25 MPH

  • Is equipped with headlights, taillights, brake lights, turn signals, mirrors, seat belts, horn, windshield, and VIN number

  • Is registered and insured like a motor vehicle

  • Can legally operate on many public roads posted 35 MPH or less

Unlike standard golf carts, LSVs are allowed on many public streets and may be driven after dark when equipped with proper lighting.

General Rules That Apply in Most Markets

While every state and town may vary slightly, these rules generally apply in every Luxe Kart market:

Driver Requirements

  • Drivers must possess a valid driver’s license

  • Drivers must obey all traffic laws

  • Driving under the influence is strictly prohibited

  • Seat belts must be worn by all passengers

  • Passengers may not ride standing up or outside designated seating areas

Road Restrictions

  • LSVs may cross larger roads only at approved intersections

  • Sidewalks, bike paths, multi-use paths, and beaches are prohibited unless specifically allowed by local law
